The Silence in Power — When Kings Lower Their Defences was born from a longing for a safe place. The world outside is a jungle, full of struggles for survival, and Eliran Bar-On chose to paint the lion and the lioness in a moment of complete ceasefire. There are no bared claws, no tension — only forehead touching forehead, breath mingling with breath. It is a moment of leaning, of the ability to set down the weight of the head, of responsibility and of royalty, on someone else's shoulder. In trauma we learn to be forever on guard; this painting is the repair, the permission to loosen the muscles and to trust. The palette is natural and rooted — browns, beige, ochre, black and white, nothing artificial. The fur and mane are painted in rough, rapid strokes that create a living, breathing texture; the artist does not beautify the animal but captures its energy. The dark patches of the mane merge into the clean white background, keeping the whole focus on the intimate meeting point between the two. That white negative space is not empty background but silence itself, neutralising every surrounding noise and forcing us to focus on pure feeling. This is quiet power — it does not roar, it whispers, I am here with you.

היצירה הזו נולדה מתוך הכמיהה למקום בטוח. העולם בחוץ הוא ג'ונגל – גם עבורנו, בני האדם – ומלא במאבקי הישרדות. בחרתי לצייר את האריה והלביאה (או הכפיר) ברגע של הפסקת אש מוחלטת. אין כאן ציפורניים שלופות, אין כאן דריכות. יש כאן רק מצח נוגע במצח, נשימה שמתערבבת בנשימה. זהו רגע של הישענות. היכולת להניח את כובד הראש, את כובד האחריות וה"מלכות", על כתף של מישהו אחר. בטראומה, אנחנו לומדים להיות דרוכים תמיד. הציור הזה הוא התיקון – הוא ההרשאה להרפות את השרירים ולסמוך. צבעים של אדמה ושורשים בחרתי בפלטה צבעונית טבעית ושורשית – גוונים של חום, בז', אוקר, שחור ולבן. אין כאן צבעים מלאכותיים. הכל גולמי, כמו הטבע עצמו. הפרווה והרעמה מצוירות במשיכות מכחול גסות ומהירות, היוצרות טקסטורה חיה ונושמת. אני לא מנסה לייפות את החיה, אלא לתפוס את האנרגיה שלה. הכתמים הכהים של הרעמה מתמזגים עם הרקע הלבן והנקי, משאירים את הפוקוס כולו על נקודת המפגש האינטימית בין השניים. הריק שמסביב הוא השקט החלל הלבן (Negative Space) שעוטף את הדמויות הוא לא סתם רקע ריק; הוא הדממה. הוא מנטרל את כל רעשי הסביבה ומכריח אותנו להתמקד ברגש הטהור. העיניים של הדמות השמאלית פקוחות למחצה, במבט עייף אך בוטח. זהו מבט שמכיר בכאב, אך מוצא נחמה בקרבה. זו יצירה שמכניסה עוצמה שקטה לחלל. היא לא צועקת "תראו אותי", היא לוחשת "אני כאן איתך". היא מתאימה לכל מי שמבין שהכוח האמיתי לא נמדד בשאגה, אלא ביכולת להיות עדין.
