The Frequency of the Leader is a portrait of the musician Avihu Pinhasov, and it sets out to capture not just a likeness but the charge that pours off him the moment the music takes over and the crowd becomes a single body. For Eliran Bar-On, Avihu stands for a new kind of Israeli energy, one that celebrates life without filters or restraint, full of warmth and relentless motion. The painting tries to translate that electric, celebratory noise into brushwork: vivid, high-key colour and a composition that keeps sliding between the realistic and the abstract, exactly like the performances themselves, which move from a moment of intimacy to an explosion of colour and rhythm. It belongs to the artist's ongoing Israeli Narrative series, in which he explores the DNA of contemporary Israeli identity through its most alive and unguarded characters. The result is a portrait that seems to vibrate on the canvas.
