Circle of Souls — A Dizziness of Identity is a human mandala. Eliran Bar-On paints three women lying in a circle, their heads touching, forming a nucleus of calm inside a visual storm. For him this is not a picture of three separate figures but a portrait of one split soul trying to find reunion. The central figure looks straight out, her green-grey eyes clear and awake — the present self. The two side figures, inverted, represent the subconscious, the dreams, the memories that rise when we close our eyes, the keepers of the threshold. The background is an explosion of energy, saturated and strong — royal blue, crimson, orange and turquoise mixed together in stormy strokes. The women's hair becomes part of that background, roots that join into one great tangled net. The faces themselves are painted in the artist's characteristic Color Blocking: patches of white, pale pink and dark shadow build the volume, the light skin standing in sharp contrast to the wild colour around it, underlining the fragility of a person inside the whirlpool of life. There is something hypnotic in the composition — from whatever direction you look, a pair of eyes meets yours, or turns inward. It is a closed circle of feminine energy with no beginning and no end, a painting about multiplicity: that we are made of different voices, and the way to heal is not to silence them but to let them lie side by side and make a new harmony from the noise.
